Karim Azmi

Karim Azmi is the founder of the firm. He brings two decades of local and regional legal experience and in-depth knowledge of a wide range of industries including IT, Telecommunication (having been a member of the committee in charge of drafting the existing law on telecommunications), construction, commercial agencies, intellectual properties and labour law

Before setting up Azmi & Associates, Karim was Vice President for Legal Affairs for Cemex, the world’s second largest cement producer. Prior to joining Cemex in 2002, and for the previous thirteen years, Karim has been a partner in Nour Law Office, in association with Trowers and Hamlins and a senior associate of the Cairo office of Baker and McKenzie where he advised international clients on all aspects of commercial and corporate law including company set up, joint ventures, construction laws and commercial contracts in general. He started his career in 1989 as an articling lawyer at Egypt’s largest law firm, Shalakany Law Office.

Karim is a part-time lecturer of law at Ain Shams University in Cairo and is the author of a number of law publications in English and French.

He graduated from the Faculty of law, University of Alexandria in 1989 and obtained a Masters Degree in Business Law form the Institute of International Business Law which is jointly administered by Université Paris Dauphine, France and Cairo University. As part of his Masters Study, he worked for the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce, Paris.

In addition to his studies in law, Karim has obtained, in 2004, a business diploma from Stanford Business School, California with part of the studying module taking place at INSEAD, Europe´s top ranked business school, located in Fontainebleau, France.

Also, he has served as Vice Chairman of Assiut Cement Football Club, a team owned by Cemex which has played in the Egyptian Premiere League for two seasons. During this period, in addition to being the board’s representative with the Football Federation, he has handled all matters related to the legal aspects of the team including players transfers, disputes etc..

He works, publishes and teaches comfortably in Arabic, English and French and is also fluent in Spanish.



Heba Shahein

Currently finalising her PhD in competition from London School of Economics, Heba is a holder of a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Trade law of the EU from the University of Amsterdam. She is also a holder of LLB from the Faculty of Law, Cairo University and a Bsc (hons) of Economics from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science of Cairo University.

Heba has started her career as a lawyer in Egypt’s largest firm, Shalakany Law Office before working as a legal advisor to Shell Company in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She has also worked in Cairo as the Senior Lawyer for the Kuwaiti Holding Company (“Americana”).

She specializes in Antitrustust and Competition Law, Commercial Agencies and Franchises, Mergers and Acquisitions and Company Law.


Heba is fluent in Arabic, English and French.



Mohamed Abdel Nasser

A graduate of the English Section of the Faculty of Law, Cairo University in 2005, and currently preparing for a Master's Degree in International Commercial and Legal Transactions, Mr. Abdel Nasser spent three years at the legal department of EgyptAir where he specialized in negotiating and drafting of the various contracts related to the aviation business and was a member of the legal committee handling the EgyptAir adherence to Star Alliance.

Mr. Abdel Nasser, fluent in English and Arabic, will focus his practice on agency and construction related contracts as well as on some litigation cases.
